I feel like everyone has the same: get in shape//get healthy//lose weight.
And while those are ones I’m striving for too after baby in 2013, I wanted to also make some specific ones…
1. Be more decisive. Specifically, take less than 30 seconds to make a choice.
Seriously guys- I can spend 10 minutes in a shampoo aisle smelling every bottle of Pantene before settling on one. It’s nutso. Some girl inevitably walks up, just grabs one and goes and I ENVY her. So in 2014 I’m going to be her. I’m going to trust my gut, go with first instincts and deal with the outcome. Big decisions and small. And if my hair smells like berries instead of coconut, I’ll live.
2. Connect with people more in real life.
Social networking is a blessing and a curse. It allows you to connect with more people, but in a halfhearted way. In 2014 I want to expand relationships into “real life”. Speaking face to face is good for the soul, and now that I’m 30 I want quality over quantity.
3. Be the mother I want to be RIGHT NOW.
My kids are small, and having a new baby to tote around is tough, especially when she’s hefty! But Sam wants to go on adventures and I’m letting too many little things get in the way. In 2014 I’m going to learn to put down the phone, computer, remote, project, whatever- and be the mom I want to be right then and there. He isn’t always going to want to hang out with his mom.
4. Do more good deeds.
One winter afternoon I was high on Christmas. I had a pep in my step and was good-deeding the shit our of everyone. I helped an elderly woman reach the milk at the grocery store, and even shared a laugh with her about how I never get to be the tall one (I’m 5’1). I helped a family on the corner with a sign, and dug out a sippy cup that had rolled under a store shelf. And guess what? It felt good.
Plain and simple I want more of that in 2014. More inspiring others through action. More pay-it-forward’s.
5. Manage my time better.
Stick to schedules, plan my work and work my plan… be more efficient.
I’d like to go back to school. I’m not sure if it’s feasible right now with two littles under five, but I’d like to. So I’ll add that to this category. We’ll see what happens.
Cheers to 2014!
